Requiem for Reality

I woke up this morning thinking. Wouldn't it be nice if I had an app that could control my PS3 from m iPhone? Thinking about Blue Tooth, and the other peripherals that Sony has made, I began to wonder if this was possible. As I started to search, I noticed I wasn't the first person to consider such an App. Apparently MS has something for their XBOX360, but I don't really play that as much as my PS3. So I began the hunt, looking at message boards from 2006-2008 and then recent.

Thus far I have found 2 apps that require some sort of extra device (PocketBlu a disk and Waveit a extra peripheral). They seem to have a few bugs in them each, but what I'm looking for is a simple Blue Tooth interface, perhaps a keyboard, and arrows to scroll.

Along this same line of thinking, it would be pretty convenient if someone created an App to actually be on the PSN from your phone, though with the recent hacks to the network I doubt this is likely to happen.

Finally after about 2 hours of searching, I come across this App called WeBe++. At the time of the post from the developer, he wasn't sure if he would be able to integrate PS3 functionality. However, I searched in the Cydia store and found that recently he did an update which included PS3 functionality and buttons. Now I just have to make them communicate.

SUCCESS!!! Literally took all of 30 seconds.

Functionality? Works very well. Keyboard, controls, buttons!! This thing does it all. It is $5.00 but...I think it's the most worth while App I've purchased thus far!

How do we know things that we don't know we know...before we realize we knew that? Have you ever wanted to answer a question someone asked, but decided against and thought I should have answered that way...I knew I was right! I suppose it's possible that everyone thinks that almost as many times as they are wrong with their original assumption. But, where do the correct answers to questions, to things we could never know come from?

How do you explain a dream that you can remember so vividly, happening exactly as it happened in your mind?

Some time ago I posited (and so did many others) that the waking reality we know is merely a vale filtering out information because there is so much to take in. However, when we sleep our filters are down and we are able to experience information being transmitted through many other wavelengths.

If we think about brain as a telephone I think it becomes a little clearer. Each one of your thoughts is a telephone number. Everything you know is attached to a frequency in a part of your brain. When you dial, or recall, that information, the frequency is called and then the information is received.

Now lets assume your brain is Michigan. Outside of your brain there are 50 other states. All who can, as long as they have long distance, call Michigan. But the incoming call can't be received if your currently on the line. Sometimes they leave messages. Sometimes they have the wrong number.

Am I saying that people can tune into you while you sleep? YES!

But that is not all. At any time of the day you can receive electrical signals. In the same way a phone can receive and dial frequencies, a phone can receive radio signals. Or signals that may not have been intended to receive from strong transmissions in a near vicinity.

I remember when cordless phones first came out. The antennae on the one we had was pretty much unshielded. When I was a kid, I would take and put tinfoil on the antennae, and could listen to one nearby radio station. We did the same thing with our old TV using the UHF dial. My brother and I would sit in his room in the basement and turn the channel to 99, and place the antennae (tinfoil intact) on to a piece of metal on the house (pipe or something similar). We would be able to hear the phone calls of some neighbors as well as radio stations.

I'm sure the radio stations doesn't seem very exciting because essentially they are transmitted over similar spectrum. But what about the brain? What about all of the signals that we are sending all day long? Are they merely kept internal? Certainly not. Take for example the EEG.

Perhaps though we are thinking about things to linearly, and directly. Perhaps brainwaves aren't just Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Theta waves. If we look at Delta waves which are frequencies up to 4hz, we can see that humans don't "hear" or rather consciously interpret the data being received at 4hz. But is that information simply discarded? It goes no where? Or perhaps it is received and travels on...like radio, or television waves.

Perhaps, we receive signals when a certain part of our brain is able to receive that frequency. It doesn't seem too hard to comprehend. Our eyes receive frequencies of light. Our ears receive wave frequencies from 20-20000hz (depending on where you get your info). So perhaps there is an "organ" of sorts to receive delta waves or other brain wave types.

If this organ were activated you could possibly receive waves and frequencies that are below AND above our "understood" modes of reception.

Maybe that's not such a good thing, but nevertheless I am!

Today I spent the first couple of hours fixing my wireless network in my house, which wasn't really messed up anyway, I had just forgotten the WPA key. So I fixed that, then I updated my PS3, my PSP, and made my phone recognize the network and connect to it.

My wife will love that! She hates the fact that I can go anywhere in the house and have access to the internet. I love it. Playing games online, checking my mail on the fly. Plus my PSP connects to my PS3 and my Blu-tooth to my phone and PS3 so I'm always hooked into technology. I like the fact that you can do so many things at once. But then it does make me wonder if that's why kids have things like ADD. I mean we live in such a here there and everywhere kinda society, that we don't even get a chance to not be focused on everything at once. I do my best to not be connected to technology all the time...but lets be realistic here....my TV, HD, connected to a dual HD-DVR. I mean there you go! I'm already connected.

And forget living off of the grid! Those people are nuts. I think they have the right idea, but they put a little too much oregeno in their trail mix....

The HTC 6800 also known around my house as the other wife...lol Just kidding. What a magnificent machine. Windows, Internet Explorer, full qwerty keyboard, windows mobile 10, Microsoft Office....

Oh yeah it has all that. Plus wi-fi capable. So that way if I am ever in a situation where I need the internet and I don't feel like paying $40.00 bucks a month for it, I can just hit the switch and log on to a network. Since I'm never in a place that doesn't have a network, this ability is great. School has a network, work, home....I don't think I go anywhere else so it's nearly perfect.

The phone does have it's down sides. The touch screen kinda sucks. If you get a text and it's in your pocket, you better hope that yo don't have a pen in there....otherwise you're calling 9998$$%$9909HGHH....which could cost quite a bit on your daytime minutes.


Also the sliding function has gotten a bit sketchy, and mind you I am retro-blogging, so I have already had this phone for somewhere around 5 months or so. The keys feel funny on your fingers when you first get the phone. Plus it's windows....so the operating system is dodgy at best. Frequently this thing will do things that you really didn't want it to do, at very inopportune moments.

Probably the worst thing about this phone is, even though it can play MP3's it doesn't have a head phone jack....that means that you have to purchase the blu-tooth head phones. Those things aren't cheap at all. Then you have to synch it all up, it's not too bad I suppose, but I have yet to do that.

Alternatively, the best thing about it is it's ability to synch up with your outlook, phone numbers, emails, calendar, EVERYTHING! You can even have it synch with excel! So if you have a spread sheet, it can hook up with that, and then add it right on to your phone.

Any way enough of that check it out for yourself.

You are looking at a replica of my 60gb (yeah I got one) PS3. Why wouldn't I post a real picture you ask? Because I don't want you to know where in my house it is. I tell you what though, soon enough I'll have pictures of the entertainment stand and everything in it. But for now...I just wanna say, this thing is great.

So I have a desktop PC. And it's great and all, but it's in my office/ studio, so I can't just entertain with that you know? How would that even sound? "Hey let's all go into my office and watch HEROES in SD on my 17 inch monitor with one chair behind the desk? "

Right that wouldn't work out at all. So now I have the ability to download games right to my hard drive and play them as much as I want when ever I want. I can put songs on my USB flash drive and transfer songs and files back and forth with ease. The controllers are wireless, and recharge through the same cord that connects your PSP to your computer or phone, or whatever.

The thing can detect wireless networks, plays in 1080p, HMDI and Optical output which is great for watching movies in 7.1 dolby digital surround. When you're done watching movies and playing games, you can surf the internet, listen to music, play a slide show, or chat with your friends you've met.

But it's getting even better. Recently sony released a patch to a program called folding at home, Folding is a program that allows you to connect to stanfords super computer network, and turns your PS3 into a computer to be used in it's calculations. Any way this patch is called life with playstation (or more like no life with playstation as my boy Andy put it) and it's almost entirely seperate from Folding with the exception that it connects to the standford computer still. The main difference between the two programs is that Life with playstation has real-time global images, and news from stations around the world. It's a good thing to leave on when you're charging your controllers.

Probably the biggest downside to this is the thing is it's HUGE price tag! I mean you can't even get a 60gb PS3 anymore for the release price...mainly because they stopped making them. So if you happen to find one, jump on it like flies on stink man. Because not only is the thing cool, and sure to get you some chicks...it's a collectors item now too.
